He moved. It was just a small shift in position as he lay near the side of the road. It came at the exact right time, and it was enough. The kind man driving by thought the little dog had passed. When he saw movement, he pulled right over.
Baxter was so badly matted it was painful to move. He was hungry, thirsty, tired, and he hurt. The man lifted him up and carried him away. He and his wife gave Baxter food and water. Then, they reached out for help.
Baxter joined us at our Safe House. He was so patient while we shaved the mats, releasing his aching, tender skin. He seemed grateful, and as the hurt dissipated, he became joyful, prancing and dancing around.
He let us know he just wanted love and would snuggle right up next to anyone nearby. Baxter’s eyes need medical attention, and so do his teeth. He’ll get all that now.
We will do all we can so the rest of his life is better than his past. For now, he’s getting the best care in his foster home. Soon, he will be looking for his home and family, one that will love and adore him for all his remaining years; daily snuggle sessions required!
We would be interested to meeting Baxter.
