There was hardly room to move. DAISY lived in a trailer with nearly 40 other dogs. Her owner was overwhelmed. A few dogs, unaltered, became more and then more. It spiraled out of control. Now Daisy was dealing with the consequences. Her hair was badly matted and covered with the filth she walked through. It pulled painfully at her skin. She was hungry, there was never enough food to go around. One miraculous day all that changed and Daisy (and her housemates!) were rescued. Daisy made her way to our Safe House for some TLC. It took hours with a clippers to shave her. As she sat so still, she seemed to know we were there to help. She soaked up the love we offered, leaning in and closing her eyes. She was grateful for a soft, clean place to lay her head and a good meal all her own that night. Thanks to you Daisy will have that every day from now on.

LUCA was starving, in pain, tired, and weak. His skin was red, cracked, and bleeding. He found a porch to climb on and laid down. Luckily for Luca, that porch belonged to a kind person who began looking for hope for this weary and wayward soul. Her first call was to our good friend Miss Becky. That’s all it took and Luca was on his way to Safe Hands. We didn’t know if Luca had ever felt love before. What we do know is that he endured more in his first 5 months of life than any pup should in a lifetime. Thanks to the generosity of the Safe Hands community, Luca received the medicine, nutritious food, and care he needed to fully recover. He is a happy, healthy, happy, and beloved member of a family all his own now.

When MACY arrived, she was so thin and so dehydrated her whole body looked shrunken. She was cold, anemic, and could barely open her eyes. Macy’s grip on life was fading. Thanks to the support of animal lovers like you, we had just received an ICU incubator. This unit would keep Macy cocooned in warm and oxygenated air. After consulting our veterinarian and giving her fluids and medications, Macy was placed inside. We watched, waited, prayed, and fed her small amounts of special liquid recovery food every hour. Macy wanted to live, that was clear. In the morning, she lapped up some food on her own. This tender but tough little girl was up for the challenge! Macy stayed in the incubator for a few days then rejoined her sibling. She made an amazing recovery and soon made the trip to Minnesota and a forever home. Today, she is a happy, healthy, growing pup and a much-loved family member. Transformations like these are what you make possible with your gift to Safe Hands Rescue.

She cowered in the back of her cage. She was so small and so very alone. Her badly damaged eye made her world one filled with hurt. At just 8 weeks of age and not even 5 lbs yet, IRENE could not remember a life free from pain. The shelter had no medical budget and the only way they had to end Irene’s suffering was to end her life. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. Instead, thanks to the generosity of our community, we were there. We scooped up this terrified little girl and took her straight to the vet’s office. Irene’s eye was beyond repair, but her spirit was not. With the pain finally gone Irene returned to our Safe House in Kentucky. There she blossomed. She learned to snuggle. She made dog friends, loved toys and playing outside. She loved to nap with Abner and this plucky little imp even got mine dog Henry to play with her! Irene is in Minnesota now with the family that was made just for her. Her beautiful transformation was made possible by gifts from people like you. This is why I am asking for your help today
