All proceeds go to Safe Hands Rescue. \nOur goal is to raise funds for The Safe House\, our Kentucky rescue property that was opened in June of 2021. Nestled right in the heart of our partner communities\, The Safe House is a critical part of our mission to save as many lives as possible. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive negative effect on animal welfare nationwide… and rural Appalachia has been hit even harder due to the lack of animal welfare resources even before the pandemic began. To date\, The Safe House has saved the lives of over 500 dogs and cats in desperate need\, and the demand for life-saving care is continuing to grow.

SUMMARY:Alfie & His Forever Family - Fur Ball Event
DESCRIPTION:You may remember Alfie from last summer.  He survived parvo but still arrived to us malnourished\, weak\, and very sick. He was born as part of an unwanted litter and did not receive the care he needed as a pup.  He’d also suffered an injury that left him missing one eye.  That’s a really rough start for a tiny 4 pound pup! \nAlfie was in need of urgent critical medical care. He was hospitalized and fighting for his life. But\, this little guy has a remarkable spirit. He received several blood transfusions and after a week that was touch and go…he was able to leave the hospital! \nSoon he was learning to play\, showing off his sweet\, goofy personality\, and singing beautiful songs to let foster mom know what he wanted.  Most often that was a snuggle!   Alfie is now happy\, healthy and home! SUMMARY:The Mine Dogs\, 1 Year Later - Fur Ball Event
DESCRIPTION:This family of dogs\, dubbed ‘The Mine Dogs’ were living at an abandoned mine.  They were hungry\, worried and weary from the struggle to survive.  We knew they needed help.  Their rescue is a story of fortitude\, perseverance\, of overcoming the odds and bridging time and distance. \nYellow Boy came home first\,  He was home with our Executive Director from the moment he was rescued. Jack\, Martin\, and Lexie were captured a few months later. They’d been together so long\, their bond so strong\, we needed to keep them together.  They were all adopted by a truly amazing couple.  And finally…after a year alone on the mountain… Henry came home.  Reunited with Yellow Boy\, he’s home to stay.  You’ll get an update from them all live on our Facebook page!

SUMMARY:2021 Virtual Fur Ball Gala
DESCRIPTION:For the second year in a row\, our Fur Ball Gala is going virtual! Homeless animals need your support now more than ever. COVID-19 has already hurt so many companion animals across the country and more and more pets are being forced into homelessness. They won’t survive without your help. \nThis year we have a goal of raising $100\,000 for The Safe House\, our Kentucky property that you can read more about here. Specifically\, we need to turn the existing barn into an animal holding ward where dogs can receive proper care and reside in a safe\, clean environment until they make the journey up north. \nWith a completed animal holding ward Safe Hands will be able to accept animals right away…no waiting. Often just a few hours can mean the difference between life and death for dogs and cats who are hungry\, thirsty\, ill or injured\, or sometimes hours from giving birth or just newborn. \n$100\,000 is what it will cost us to create a safe space to care for animals before they make the trip up north. We can nourish their bodies and souls until they’re brought into the arms of their loving foster and forever families.
