Celebrating 15 Years of Lives Saved

October 7th 2006 is when this all started, and since then this community has saved the lives of more than 30,000 animals. This is cause for celebration and we want you to join in on the festivities!

What we want for our birthday is the chance to save even more lives. That's why we're on a mission to raise $22,500-- enough funds to run The Safe House for nearly 3 months and save 400 companion animals!

Please help us celebrate this milestone by making a gift in support of The Safe House, and help spread the word about Safe Hands Rescue to your loved ones so they can get involved too!

In celebration of our birthday, we're looking back on some of the most inspiring rescue stories from the past 15 years. We've collected so many stories of hardship, hope, and healing since the rescue was born and we can't think of a better way to celebrate our birthday than to share them with you. Check them out on our blog and be inspired by the strength and perseverance of all the amazing animals that have been saved!

In addition to so many past stories from our years of rescue, more and more animals come to us every day hoping for just one more chance at life. Because of you, great things are just around the corner for them. Great things for dogs like Norman.

Norman was found hopelessly stuck in kudzu vines with no way to free himself. We're not sure how long he was trapped. Struggling to get free only tangled him more, but still he tried. When his cries were finally heard and he was broke free, his fur was so matted that it felt nearly solid to the touch. It took over 2 hours to shave him, and through it all we saw nothing but gratitude and love from Norman. Afterwards he was finally able to move about freely and we noticed he had an abnormal gait. When his x-rays came back, we were astounded at Norman's ability to love despite what he's been through. He'd had a broken femur and pelvis, and both had poorly healed themselves before we found him. An old foot injury revealed severe damage with most of his toes sheered off one foot. He had been in immense pain and still all he wanted was love.

15 years of stories like Norman's precede that fateful day when he was found. And even as he settles into his loving foster home, learning what it's like to be free from fear and pain, we know there are so many more lives to save. We would love to celebrate this milestone with you and make it possible to keep doing this work.
